A Story Unfolds is an exploration of variation.
In the piece we encounter 3 main elements - 2 rhythmic motives and 1 main melody. Any of them will appear in different shapes and sizes throughout the duration of the piece, varying in its harmonic context or its overarching musical message.
In most cases I let the music dictate me on how to progress a piece rather than having a predetermined structure. Sometimes this can take more time but in this piece it came surprisingly natural, which made it quite the joy to see it unfold.
