Where We Stand doesn’t pretend to be more than it is, the piece is based on a very simple melody and its purpose is to be as accessible as possible.
The “wide and open” sound you find in certain works from Ralph Vaughan Williams or Aaron Copland was always something that deeply resonated with me. There’s a certain quality to it that immediately grabs me and overwhelms me with a sense of ease and contemplation.
I tried to capture this sensation and portrait it in a heartfelt and rather personal way.
